11/27/2017 0 Comments Final ReflectionPrior to this class I had enjoyed taking photos and sharing them with others through social media, but that was all I knew about photography. My first day I didn't know what the class would be like because I didn't know what else we would be learning besides taking pictures. However, I soon learned I would need to know the different types of cameras, different techniques used for taking pictures, how to use photoshop, and how to use the different applications on an apple computer. This was very intimidating considering I have always struggled using computers. Not to mention I had to teach myself the material for the first three weeks of class because I was gone on a mission trip to South America, and after I returned keeping up with the class was difficult. I learned how to build a ceiling before learning how to build the base of a house. In other words, I struggled with the photoshop assignments because I was still learning the basic information about the applications on the computer. Thankfully, I had friends to help guide me, and I was able to catch up. It was then I started learning how to improve my photography skills. With each different assignment I refreshed the basic tips for using aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Additionally, I learned important skills for taking pictures of certain subjects by the end of the assignment. For instance, my first assignment, I chose to take pictures of animals and experimented with aperture, shutter speed, and lighting through out the session to gain a better understanding of which settings take the best pictures of animals. Also with this experience, I learned to be fast because maintaining a pet's attention for an extended period of time is very difficult. All of my assignments followed this pattern of learning and you can see that within the first and last pictures taken within each assignment shown in the pictures below. Now I am proud to say I have gained confidence working with photoshop and the different applications on the computer. Lastly, I have gained a lot of respect for professional photographers as it takes a lot of skill, time, and energy to take good photos. First photo Best Photo Worst Best Worst Best
