11/27/2017 0 Comments Final ReflectionPrior to this class I had enjoyed taking photos and sharing them with others through social media, but that was all I knew about photography. My first day I didn't know what the class would be like because I didn't know what else we would be learning besides taking pictures. However, I soon learned I would need to know the different types of cameras, different techniques used for taking pictures, how to use photoshop, and how to use the different applications on an apple computer. This was very intimidating considering I have always struggled using computers. Not to mention I had to teach myself the material for the first three weeks of class because I was gone on a mission trip to South America, and after I returned keeping up with the class was difficult. I learned how to build a ceiling before learning how to build the base of a house. In other words, I struggled with the photoshop assignments because I was still learning the basic information about the applications on the computer. Thankfully, I had friends to help guide me, and I was able to catch up. It was then I started learning how to improve my photography skills. With each different assignment I refreshed the basic tips for using aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Additionally, I learned important skills for taking pictures of certain subjects by the end of the assignment. For instance, my first assignment, I chose to take pictures of animals and experimented with aperture, shutter speed, and lighting through out the session to gain a better understanding of which settings take the best pictures of animals. Also with this experience, I learned to be fast because maintaining a pet's attention for an extended period of time is very difficult. All of my assignments followed this pattern of learning and you can see that within the first and last pictures taken within each assignment shown in the pictures below. Now I am proud to say I have gained confidence working with photoshop and the different applications on the computer. Lastly, I have gained a lot of respect for professional photographers as it takes a lot of skill, time, and energy to take good photos. First photo Best Photo Worst Best Worst Best

11/16/2017 0 Comments Visual DictionaryThe goal of this assignment was to find different pictures and edit them together to create one image revolving around an idea that represented a word. I learned how to apply the different applications from within photoshop together to help relate different images to one topic. Also from this experience, I feel more confident in my photo editing skills.
11/16/2017 0 Comments Photo Assignment 7, FoodThe goal of this assignment was to take pictures around the idea of food using learned techniques. There was no editing done to this picture. ISO: 400 Aperture: f 5.6 Shutterspeed: 1/250 From this assignment, I learned you have to be creative with how you position the object or food of interest because the background can have a big effect on the appeal of the food.
11/16/2017 0 Comments Multiple MeThe goal of this assignment was to use a single picture and edit multiple poses of one person to create an illusion that there are multiple of the same person. From this assignment, I learned lighting is important in every part of the picture, and when you do this assignment you have to make sure the pictures line up. One of the hard parts of this was not bumping or moving furniture in the process.
11/13/2017 0 Comments Visual Puns AssignmentThe goal of this assignment was to use photoshop to create a visual pun. From this assignment I refreshed my memory on how to create a layer mask and combine different photos together using multiple applications I have used in photoshop over the trimester.
11/6/2017 0 Comments Photo Assignment 6, PeopleThe goal of this assignment was to take pictures of people using different settings on the camera and experimenting with light. Before Photoshop After ISO: 125 Aperture: f 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/30 I did quite a bit of editing on this photo, I cropped the photo following the rule of thirds, I smoothed out the face using clone stamp, and blended the background. From this assignment,I learned how to reflect the light onto someone's face when taking a picture as well as using portrait mode and different settings to emphasize the subject.
11/3/2017 0 Comments PortraitThe goal of this project was to take studio and non studio portraits that correctly manipulated the light. For the Final product I I framed each picture in white, then put the framed images on top of a black background. From this assignment, I learned how to use different lights in a studio to prevent shadows on the subjects face. Also outside of the studio we learned how to use a bounce card to reflect the light up onto the subject.
The goal of this assignment was to take pictures and learn how to desaturate them using photo shop. Aperture: f 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/60 ISO: 168 There was very little editing done to this picture besides desaturating the photo and cropping the edges. Originally, for this assignment I set out to take pictures of Architecture, however once I looked at the photos on my computer I realized that I needed a better focal point, so I used these for the black and white assignment. I learned how to use the desaturate tool in photoshop and different textures convey a better image in black and white.
10/27/2017 1 Comment P/S TutorialThe goal of this assignment was to find photoshop tutorials and create an inmate following the online instructions of your choice. From this assignment I learned how to use different photoshop tools and techniques most of which included manipulating the opacity of different pictures and colors to make them blend. However, it was sometimes difficult to get to the next step because the tutorials didn't list every step or they had a different version of photoshop.
10/23/2017 0 Comments Photo Assignment 4, MacroThe goal of Macro photography is to use different settings on the camera to create a small depth of field and focus on the object of interest by making it greater than or just about life size. ISO: 200 Aperture: f 2.8 Shutter Speed: 1/25 Editing: I used photoshop to crop the image following the rule of thirds, blur out the background, and I used clone stamp to edit part of the frog which was covered up by a leaf. From this assignment I learned how to use aperture and shutter speed to take close up macro pictures. One thing that was hard about this assignment was getting close to the frogs I was taking pictures of because it was hard for them to stay still as a foreign object was being shoved in their face.
